Bespoke planters to create an edible garden
Michael moved into his newly built townhouse in 2021, the garden, in true new-build style the garden was very basic, in Michael’s case it was purely soil. The garden also sloped upwards towards the end of the plot.
The garden before ---->
Michael decided on a place for the garden shed and planned to design the garden layout around that. He wanted to grow vegetables and fruit, the part of the back of the garden received the most sun as it is north-facing.
The slope at the end of the garden needed tackling and Michael discovered WoodBlocX and saw that different structures could be integrated into one design, which gave him the idea of creating a retaining wall planter design with a bench.
Before starting the design, he ordered a pre-designed Tiered Herb Garden which fitted perfectly in front on the shed, to try out the building process, which he found easy and was confident that his retaining wall idea would work well and used our Free Design Service to get his design in motion by sharing his measurements and ideas.
Michael built his custom design within a weekend and found that the majority of the work went into preparing the ground before building the structures and then adding the liner and filling with soil. Once his bespoke retaining wall was built, he decided to add an L-shape raised bed to complete the garden and to provide more space for growing edibles.
Michael's bespoke planter wall design has created a solution to the sloped area to the rear of his garden. He now has two long planting sections at two heights and an integrated seat. Plus, his L-shaped and tiered raised beds provide plenty of space for him to grow edibles.
Michael used a combination of our pre-designed kits and our Free Bespoke Design Service to create his raised edible garden. Our aim is to bring your garden ideas to life, our Free Design Service, easy-to-use raised bed calculators and pre-designed kits make it quick and easy to get exactly what you need for your garden.
