Andrea's front garden update
Bespoke planters to create a show-stopping front garden feature
When Andrea moved to her new home she was keen to update the front garden. It originally had an extremely large conifer, two pencil conifers and other shrubs. The conifers almost covered the pathway to the house and together the trees and shrubs made the living room, at the front of the house dark.

Planning the garden
To let more light into the house and to open up the space, the trees needed to be removed. Andrea waited until the birds had finished nesting and gradually took the trees and shrubs out, ready for the next stage of the front garden update.
The design Andrea had in mind was neat, tidy and easy to maintain without being too big. She looked into the different options available, including railway sleepers, but wanted something that could achieve the design she had in mind, to be long-lasting and could be built by her. She submitted her ideas to our design team, and they used her measurements and ideas to create a full outline of the design presented in a design pack.
The final design consisted of three raised beds arranged in a corner formation. The central raised bed was a bespoke pentagon shape which was higher than the two rectangular raised beds which joined it at either side.
Preparation and building
Andrea found the building of the WoodBlocX easy, the ground preparation was the most time intensive as she needed to ensure it was level, this ensures that the BlocX fit together as they should, therefore the groundwork took a little longer to complete than expected in this case, but once Andrea had levelled the ground, the building process was quick and easy.
The finished design
Andrea’s bespoke WoodBlocX raised bed design has created a great front garden feature. It creates a boundary between the pavement and her garden and it also frames the space without being imposing. She has filled the raised borders with a mixture of colourful plants and shrubs. Her driveway is now light and bright and has been totally transformed.
