Our customer, Adie, was keen to enhance her patio space in her back garden. Choosing a variety of raised planters and benches, we have created a beautiful outdoor space to relax, as well as providing an area for growing colourful flowers and delicious vegetables.

Adie’s raised planter bench patio
Adie wanted to add some structure to her patio to achieve a space where family and friends could socialise and relax, as well as providing raised beds and planters to allow her to grow flowers and vegetables throughout the year. The patio space provided a blank canvas for a bespoke WoodBlocX design to be created to fit the area perfectly.
Planning the Garden
Adie submitted her initial ideas and garden measurements to us using our Free Design Service. Her original idea was to enhance the neighbours bordering wall, whilst providing a seating space that would allow her to enjoy the garden. An important design requirement was to ensure a water gutter was undisturbed within the project.
Our designer, Innes, worked with Adie to achieve a bespoke design that ticked all of her boxes. When using our Free Design Service, we offer unlimited revisions until the customer is 100% happy with their personalised design. On our website we have lots of customer garden case studies for your inspiration.
Preparation and building
Adie began by clearing the patio space to ensure the stone work was free of garden debris and leaves before commencing the build. In this case, the WoodBlocX structures were built directly onto the patio itself using angle floor brackets to secure them into place. WoodBlocX can also be built on grass and secured with ground spikes to ensure stability.
Following the easy-to-use building instructions, each layer was added to the various WoodBlocX kits and the design is finished off using our modern capping. The bench design provides ample storage space underneath for items such as cut wood and gardening essentials.
Finished Garden
The finished garden featured a long bench running the length of the patio, with plentiful space for growing flowers in the raised bed that sits behind the bench. This created a beautiful backdrop to the patio which Adie has enhanced by adding mood lighting to the wall and trellis to create a cosy feel – there are so many ways you can use a WoodBlocX planter!
The seating bench continues and wraps around the edge of the patio, with a space to allow Adie and her family to easily walk out to the garden. An L-shaped planter bench was designed to frame the other side of the patio. There is also an additional WoodBlocX vegetable garden raised bed situated next to the patio to cater to Adie’s vegetable growing plans.
Additional lighting and a modern monochrome outdoor rug has enhanced and finished off the space for Adie and her family to enjoy… and the dog!
