At Twining’s HQ office, the team worked together to create an area where they could socialise and enjoy their outdoor space. They were keen to add some raised beds for planting as well as a socialising area to enhance the existing garden seating.
Twining’s L-shaped raised planter bench
Prior to the transformation, the area was a mixture of paving and stones without any structure or space for a number of people to enjoy. The space offered a relatively blank canvas, allowing the team to work together with our WoodBlocX designers to create a bespoke solution to suit their needs.
Planning the Garden
When planning the courtyard design, Twining’s got in touch with us using our Free Design Service which offer multiple revisions with no obligation to purchase. The initial idea included adding multiple raised beds along with a planter bench to the area. Working with WoodBlocX designer, Harry, a solution was found to create one long raised bed instead. There were limitations to the design as the ground was sloped, however WoodBlocX can be built on any type of ground, as long as it is prepared to be completely level.
The Twining’s team also wanted to create a herb garden for all the staff to enjoy. It was also important that a seating area was included, as well as plenty space for growing herbs and flowering plants.
Preparation and building
The ground was sloped where the long L-shaped raised bed was to be built so preparation work was carried out to level this area. Once the turf had been dug down, builders sand was added where required to ensure the ground was level before the building began. The ground preparation for this project was impressive and followed our installation guidelines for a successful build.
As the WoodBlocX was built on soft ground, ground spikes were used to secure it to the ground. Once the raised bed and L-shaped planter bench were complete, they were lined using our durable protective liner, before the final capping layer was added. For this project, modern capping was installed, which offers a flush finish with the rest of the structure. See our capping style guide.
Finished Garden
Twining’s outdoor office space now looks fantastic! The long L-shaped raised bed frames the entrance, creating an inviting walkway into the building. This new raised bed area now provides ample growing space for plants and shrubs for the team to enjoy throughout the seasons.
The additional L-shaped planter bench on the opposite side perfectly complements the space, providing more seating alongside a new table and chairs set. The outdoor area is now an inviting space for colleagues to socialise whilst enjoying time spent outside.
