Peter and Carol's garden was typical of a new build property. It didn't have any unique features and at 180sqm it was quite a large space. It was also on a slight slope. They were keen to create something low-maintenance and long-lasting.

Planning the garden
The couple planned to include a dome with seating and new patio area and began drawing out a design based on the measurements of this. They wanted to add raised planters to reduce with pathways in between so that he could access all area of the garden and reduce the overall maintenance needed.
After sketching various designs and layouts, they settled on one design which included a series of tiered raised beds and a low retaining wall. They sent it, along with the measurements they had worked out over to our Design Team.
Preparation and building
As the garden was already on a slight slope, Peter and Carol levelled the space and saved the topsoil to refill the planters. Thanks to our colour-coded step-by-step instructions, they found building of the raised bed garden really straightforward and easy to follow. They used pea gravel to level and for extra drainage rather than their original plan of building the structures on patio slabs.
The finished design
Peter and Carol have done an excellent job of building the structures. Their final design includes two tiered L-shaped/corner raised beds, one long-tiered planter and a low retaining wall. They have finished the pathways with gravel and created a beautiful low-maintenance garden.
